County Government of Tana River- County Governments Integrated Development Plan.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Monitoring Evaluation Department and Kenya School of Government supported the drafting of the County Government of Tana River County Integrated Development Plan III (CIDPIII). Through the years, UNDP has ensured implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, Youth and Gender inclusion, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Climate Change, all of which have been mainstreamed and included in the budget. The drafting workshop that took place from 13 to 18 March 2023 was a highly consultative platform involving sector and service departments including agriculture and rural development; general economic and commercial affairs; energy, infrastructure, and ICT; health; education; social protection, culture, and recreation; environmental protection, water, and natural resources and public administration and intergovernmental relations.

The CIDP is a key five-year development plan that integrates the long-term spatial, sector, and urban plans, the governor’s manifesto, national government plans and programs, past county development performance, and the views and expectations of other development actors and citizens. The CIDP guides the prioritization of interventions to be undertaken, planning, and allocation of resources over the five-year term. The seriousness, concentration, and determination of the workshop participants were profound, culminating in long working sessions and ultimately a final CIDP which will be submitted to the county executive for adoption and subsequently to the County Assembly for approval, followed by launch and roll-out.
